The University Hospital Son Espases took over from the former Son Dureta in 2010, consolidating its position as the public hospital of reference for more than 330,000 inhabitants of Palma and the surrounding municipalities. It is also a tertiary reference hospital for the inhabitants of the autonomous region of the Balearic Islands.
Son Espases has its own research and teaching facilities and is equipped with cutting-edge healthcare technology.
