LUZNOR wins the V Green Pact Award
Luznor won the Green Pact Award in the small business category at the fifth edition of these awards presented by the Mayor of Vitoria, Gorka Urtaran, the First Deputy Mayor, Maider Etxebarria, and the Basque Government's Minister for the Environment, Elena Moreno, at the event that took place on November 14, 2019 at the Villa Suso Palace.
The winning environmental best practice is based on the launch of new energy-optimized handlamps that also incorporates an electronic system that modifies the operation of any existing Luznor charger when it comes into contact with it, and automatically updates it to be able to charge the new handlamp with maximum efficiency.
In this way Luznor forces the reuse and reincorporation into the production cycle of all chargers placed on the market to date, amounting to 80,000 units internationally, preventing them from becoming obsolete and the customer from having to purchase a new charger, since they were designed for older battery technologies.
This project is in line with the circular economy: an increase in useful life is achieved, the generation of priority waste is reduced, particularly waste electrical and electronic equipment, plastics and batteries, and the user is made aware of reuse and responsible consumption. It also contributes to Horizon 2020 and the Basque Industry 4.0 Strategy (RIS3 of Euskadi) and has been subsidized by the Basque Government's Hazitek 2018 Business R&D Support Program.
The different types of improvements and savings achieved are as follows:
Light autonomy | 20% higher (less recharges) | Electric energy Cost Carbon equivalent | 1,064,800 kWh/year 144,000 €/year 410,000 kg CO2/year |
Service life | 2.5 times higher | WEEEs | 16,000 kg |
Batteries | 200,000 kg | Plastics | 20,000 kg |
